Spot gold was $3592.91 per ounce in the morning, close to the record high set last Friday, with a single-day high of 1.5%. Silver and platinum fell slightly, while palladium remained stable. Analysts pointed out that gold's strong performance is driven by the dual driving of interest rate expectations and safe-haven buying.
The U.S. non-farm employment report shows that recruitment has slowed and the unemployment rate has risen to its highest level since 2021. The market has rapidly raised its interest rate cut expectations, and swap traders pricing shows that there may be three interest rate cuts in the rest of the year.
Institutional View: Market research shows that lower borrowing costs often increase the attractiveness of interest-free gold, especially in the context of uncertain US dollar outlook.
U.S. President Trump recently challenged the independence of the Federal Reserve, which has aroused market concerns. He claims to gain a majority in the Fed soon and push for a faster rate cut.
