On Monday (November 3) during the European trading session, the time-sharing chart shows that GBP/USD dropped to an intraday low near 1.3117, then rebounded, and is currently oscillating around the moving average (1.3135). It was reported at 1.3136/37 during the session, a decrease of 0.08%.
The pound/dollar exchange rate has fallen back recently, hitting its lowest level since April, continuing the downward trend that started after hitting a peak of 1.3726 in September.
The pound fell after the Federal Reserve's decision
The pound/dollar pair fell after the Federal Reserve announced its latest interest rate decision. As widely expected, the Fed decided to cut interest rates by 0.25% due to continued concerns about the labor market.
When this resolution was announced, the U.S. government was in a state of shutdown, and many leading xmaccount.companies announced large-scale layoffs. GB/USD technical analysis
The daily chart shows that GBP/USD has continued to decline in the past few months, falling from a high of 1.3726 in September to the current 1.3096.
The pair has fallen below the 50-day exponential moving average (50-day EMA). Meanwhile, the relative strength index (RSI) has fallen into oversold territory below 30.
The pound has fallen below the Bollinger Bands trend indicator (Supertrend) and the Ichimoku Cloud indicator (Ichimoku Cloud). Therefore, the path of least resistance for the exchange rate is bearish, and the next key level of concern is the psychological level of 1.3000. If the exchange rate breaks through the resistance level of 1.3250, the current bearish view will be invalidated.
