The British pound against the US dollar (GBP/USD) fluctuated around 1.3200 in early European trading on Tuesday, as the market was digesting the sharp drop from the five-week high of 1.3276 the previous day.
Although there are signs of stabilization in the short term, the overall trend is still suppressed by expectations of an interest rate cut by the Bank of England.
Betting on an interest rate cut by the Bank of England in December has increased, putting continued pressure on the pound. The market currently generally expects the Bank of England to launch a new round of interest rate cuts at its meeting on December 18, which will weaken the medium-term appeal of the pound.
At the same time, the US dollar has experienced a phased rebound globally, making the upward pressure on the pound against the US dollar more obvious.
The UK Autumn Budget previously brought a short-term boost to the market, but as the impact of the policy gradually faded, investors turned their focus back to the outlook for interest rates.

Judging from the daily trend, GBP/USD has recently shown a consolidation trend around 1.3200, and the overall structure remains weak. Although the price is temporarily maintained above the 21-day moving average, it is still facing intensive suppression from the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day moving averages, indicating that the upside space is limited;
The three medium- and long-term moving averages are all trending lower, which also strengthens the medium-term short trend of the pound. In terms of technical indicators, the RSI is located around 51, reflecting neutral momentum. The current rebound is more like a correction than a correction.Trend reversal.
If the exchange rate cannot break through the 50-day moving average resistance of 1.3270, it may fall back to the 21-day moving average support of 1.3149; conversely, once the daily closing position is above 1.3270, it is expected to further test the strong resistance area of 1.3318-1.3370.
