In early trading in Asia on Thursday, April 9, the U.S. dollar index remained strong around 99.10, supported by safe-haven demand in the late U.S. session. The market expected the Federal Reserve to maintain a cautious easing attitude. After the latest Federal Open Market xmaccount.committee (FOMC) meeting minutes were released, the market reacted quickly. The minutes generally confirmed that policymakers remained cautious and were in no rush to cut interest rates, reinforcing expectations of "higher interest rates for longer."

The minutes of the meeting showed that officials were increasingly concerned about ongoing inflation risks, especially the risks posed by high energy prices related to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. Although the Fed acknowledged that some parts of the economy have cooled, it emphasized that progress in inflation remains uneven, which keeps the threshold for any policy easing high.

Meanwhile, geopolitical developments continue to cast a pall over the market. Despite news of a temporary ceasefire between the United States, Iran and Israel, markets remain skeptical as conditions for the deal have not yet been met and tensions remain in the region.

EUR/USD briefly surged to around 1.1720 earlier in the day, but has now fallen back to around 1.1650, as the strength of the US dollar and concerns about Eurozone growth have limited the upside.

GBP/USD is gaining momentum and is trading around the 1.3380 level, hovering near multi-week lows after previously hitting a high of 1.3484.

USD/JPY fell to the 158.70 area, partially recovering the previous decline, but due to continued geopolitical risks, the overall trend is still in decline.

AUD/USD maintains large gains near 0.7030, despite being close to 0.7080 from earlierThe high point has fallen somewhat. Although domestic conditions are relatively stable, risk aversion and a cautious outlook weigh on the pair.

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices fell sharply to $95.00 per barrel as uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz appeared to be temporarily receding. However, the ceasefire news itself is still fragile, and supply risks remain the focus of the market.

Gold prices were trading around $4,709, supported by geopolitical uncertainty in the morning, but as risk sentiment subsided, gold prices remained in the neutral range.
